( Just saw that Lightshow had posted in that thread too - I am surprised that he seems not to remember. I have a second copy of the 8 element with serial number 1338555,Īnd in that thread 'Spotmatic' presented his 8 element with serial number 1221765 Serial numbers of the three lenses shown: My photos don't show the serial numbers and I don't have the lenses with me, but I had been asked for them when I had presented these findings at, in this thread However names on the bezels alternate between the new and old. S erial numbers from the first 2 batches are consecutive and all bear the correct model number (43542) and full aperture metering function. But I think that it is enough from my summary of even a limited number of serial numbers that the eight element lens serial numbers seem to merge into hybrids at about "159" or thereabouts and that numbers below this are in fact the eight element lenses. Production of this popular lens began confidently with 4 batches of 3,000 copies each followed by a large batch of 30,000 copies. I am a forum moderator in training and I only seem to have an ability to move the whole thread holus bolus to another forum - this is certainly not what we want although I wholeheartedly agree that the question of the ID of eight element Super Takumar M42 50mm f1.4 lenses is a subject by itself. I thought of starting a new thread myself but I thought that the two lenses were related enough to one another. Tom may I suggest, if you can, to divide this discussion into an new thread, maybe called something like: Signs of an 8 element Super Takumar 1.4/50mm" or "Hybrid Super Takumar 1.4/50mm" or.I don't know.anyway, could be helpful.
